Turner: Just doing his job?

Monday, October 18, 2010

BOSTON
MICHAEL NAUGHTON

After prosecutors in the corruption trial of City Councilor Chuck Turner described to jurors how he “grabbed” a $1,000 bribe out of the hands of a local businessman, Turner’s attorney tried to portray the councilor as a representative dedicated to his constituency.

“All Mr. Turner ever did in this case was his job as a city councilor,” said Turner’s attorney, Barry Wilson, during opening statements in federal court yesterday. “Just wait and see. This is why we have trials.”
