BLACK PANTHER ANIMATED SERIES DVD ON SALE NOW @AMAZON CLICK HERE!!!

Blackstonian Editor's Note:

I am a huge fan of Comic Books and Super Heroes, particularly Marvel Comics and the variety of Black Super Heroes they have in the Marvel Universe. Of all the Black Super Heroes, Black Panther aka T'Challa, King of Wakanda, has got to be one of the best and in-depth characters created. Aside from Stan Lee's attempts to include Black characters which often still embodied stereotypes ie: released from prison, former drug dealer, son of a drug fiend, etc., the Black Panther represented Politics, Spirituality, History and Nobility, much of which was previously unseen in comics and other forms of media like tv, radio and film.

There has been much talk of a Black Panther Movie and Marvel has given some creative control to Reginald Hudlin in the line of comic books as well as the Animated series which aired on BET... wait we'll get to that.
At first the script was purchased by Wesley Snipes, who I heard execs did not want to see as the Black Panther after branding him (no pun intended) as the Blade character with 3 movies deep in the franchise.

MY SUGGESTIONS FOR A BLACK PANTHER MOVIE:

Djimon Hounsou (Gladiator, Blood Diamond, Amistad, currently the voice for the animated series below)

Idris Elba (The Wire, Luther) just heard he is playing Heimdall in upcoming Thor movie

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost, GI Joe, OZ)

Malik Yoba (NY Undercover)

and for T'Chaka the original Black Panther and Father of T'Challa
Dennis Haysbert (Allstate commercials, 24, The Unit, Waiting to Exhale)

UPDATE:

Peter Mensah (300, Hulk, Spartacus on Starz)

I have hung on every bit of news about the Black Panther, not only because I am the most thugged out geek you know, but also because the true importance and potential of the Black Panther is its ability to provide a Hero image to young Black Children, especially Young Black Males. I have purchased action figures, shared comic books and movies of Black Panther with my own daughter as well as the children of many of my friends over the years. I have interrogated my friend, Rob Stull, comic artist extraordinaire who has drawn the Black Panther in the past for any inside information to no avail.  I was patiently waiting for the animated series as soon as I heard the news about the arrangement with Marvel, Reggie Hudlin and to my surprise and suspicion, BET.

Well true to form, the Black Panther series never made it to the air on BET in Amerikkka. I first began hearing about the series from Australia and began searching for video. In my search I was excited to find news that the Black panther animated series would be on Itunes and the Playstation Network which meant I could get it right on my PS3 just like Netflix. Again I was stopped by the racist white supremacist right wing conspiracy to keep the Black Panther from reaching masses of young Black Children.
You go search for yourself and you will see a complete media black out (no pun intended).

In the spirit of disrupting the system and out of my immense love for Afrika, including Wakanda, I present to you the BLACK PANTHER ANIMATED SERIES....

Hudlin, marvel, Stan Lee, BETTER GET IT TOGETHER
and get this on teh air in the US
it can serve as the beginning of penance for the degradation that BET has perpetrated against the Black Community....

This is show is simply awesome! My son introduced this to me a couple of months ago and I was blown away. It is the best anime ever! The Black Panther is cleverly written and performed! It is now my favorite anime of all times.

Please show support so that more episodes will be produced. I for one give support by purchasing the DVD. We all can help by word-of-mouth, but better yet send this link to all your contacts via the internet--Facebook, Twitter, etc. We need more positive entertainment such as this, don't you agree?
